Science Featured, curator and publisher of open access articles about the wonders of science, highlights research by Furman University Chemistry Professor George Shields and undergraduates Conor Bready ’24 and Olivia Longsworth ’25. The researchers’ study offers insights into the early stages of aerosol formation and was first published in the journal Environmental Science: Atmospheres. The third paper in a series about atmospheric chemistry from Shields’ lab, the study underscores the complex nature of aerosol formation and the role of specific molecular interactions. The research aims to help climate scientists improve models to more accurately predict the impact of aerosols on global warming.
