Furman University’s Sarah Reese Lyric Theatre will stage Jacques Offenbach’s “Orpheus in the Underworld” Saturday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. and again Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium. Paul Hyde of Greenville Journal spoke to Grant Knox, associate professor of voice and director of the Sarah Reese Lyric Theatre. He described the operetta as a “zany and wacky party on stage.” The 40-member cast will be accompanied by a pit orchestra led by Furman’s Simón Gollo, associate professor of music and conductor of the Furman Symphony Orchestra. The performances are free and open to the public.
