Rhett Bryson featured in The Linking Ring
Local magic man Paul DiLella chronicles the magical life of Furman University’s Rhett Bryson in The Linking Ring, the official magazine of the International Brotherhood of Magicians (I.B.M). Bryson, professor of scenic and lighting design in the Department of Theatre Arts, came to Furman in 1972. He was celebrated this year by the I.B.M. when it named the regional chapter in his honor, I.B.M. Ring 63 – The Rhett Bryson Ring.
In the cover story (used with permission from The Linking Ring), DiLella includes highlights from Bryson’s career, from his childhood to his education at Florida State University and the University of Georgia to his experience in New York City performing close-up street magic. Bryson also served as the official magician for local baseball team, the Greenville Drive. He holds what might be the world’s largest collection of magic-themed automata and toys.
