Several news outlets cover The Duke Endowment’s grants to selected universities including Furman University, Davidson College and Johnson C. Smith University. Each will receive $25 million from The Duke Endowment, which earlier made a $100 million grant to Duke University. Forbes noted how each institution will use the funds. The grant will help Furman fund The Furman Advantage, its framework for integrating engaged learning, reflection, belonging and mentoring for students. A key component of The Furman Advantage is the Pathways Program, which involves four one-credit classes for first- and second-year students that guide them through self-reflection to career preparation. Elizabeth Davis is also quoted.

The news also ran on Raleigh TV stations WRAZ-RAL (FOX), WRAL News on FOX50, and WRAL (NBC), and Wilmington station WILM-TV 10.

The Duke Endowment will mark 100 years of philanthropy in December 2024. Learn more in a Furman News story.
