An active shooter training session with Furman University Police led to Laura Leigh Morris’ latest novel, “The Stone Catchers.” Morris, an associate professor of English at Furman, sat down with Eliot Parker, host of podcast “Now, Appalachia,” to talk about the book and the characters at the center of a fictional school shooting. Her first book, “Jaws of Life,” was published in 2018 and recounts stories about people living in West Virginia.
