In a Greenville Journal story about the upcoming solar eclipse, Furman University’s David Moffett offers tips on how to safely view it. Moffett, chair and professor of the physics department, also reminisces about how he became fascinated with all things celestial. He also served as emcee at Paladin Stadium where thousands gathered to witness 2017’s total eclipse. Moffett will travel to Dallas with specialized gear to view the eclipse in totality. The article gives the 411 on the event in the Upstate area, which will see 84% of the sun’s rays blocked. It all starts at about 1:50 p.m. local time, Monday, April 8.
