Martin Luther King Jr. Day may be a holiday and a day to commemorate a legendary civil rights leader, but it’s also recognized as a national day of service with the recurring theme “A Day On, Not a Day Off.” Furman students understood the assignment. After an interfaith celebration and breakfast on the morning of Jan. 16, campus organizations and athletic teams fanned out throughout Greenville County to lend a hand to local organizations – organizing donations at churches, assisting at a senior living center and picking up trash by the highway.
