Leadership awards honor student legacies, impact

The Furman University Student Leadership Awards were presented April 7 in Younts Conference Center. Students were recognized in 15 categories; two student groups and two advisors were also recognized. One of two recipients of the President’s Award was Bryce Stanfield ’24, a health science major and Paladin football player who passed away in February. His parents, Fred and Teri Stanfield, received his award for him.

“Here at Furman, we believe that leadership is not about title or position, it’s about leaving a legacy and creating an impact. The groups and individuals that we recognize today have made a true impact, one that will be felt for years to come,” Natalie Kindler, assistant director of the Shucker Center for Leadership Development, told the crowd.

“Our ceremony was full of joy and pride, celebrating the accomplishments of so many wonderful people and groups,” Kindler said. “The energy in Younts was infectious. We feel very fortunate to have had so many families, friends, faculty, staff and community members in attendance.”
