Kolb receives mention in NYT article about grocery store consolidation

The Federal Trade Commission is fighting a proposed merger deal that would allow Kroger to buy out Albertson’s grocery store chain as part of the biggest supermarket consolidation in U.S. history. A reporter for The New York Times investigated what the acquisition might mean for a small town outside Portland, Oregon, where access to groceries in the high-poverty suburb is already limited. The Times’ Danielle Kaye spoke to Furman University’s Ken Kolb, professor and chair of the sociology department and expert on food access and food deserts.
