In a WYFF News 4 report on domestic violence, the station’s Miya Payton spoke with Furman University’s Ken Kolb, chair and professor of the sociology department. Kolb, author of “Moral Wages: The Emotional Dilemmas of Victim Advocacy and Counseling,” said the ability to leave a relationship where intimate partner violence exists becomes increasingly difficult as lives become more entangled. He noted that abusers may use social media tactics for creating false narratives, further isolating victims of physical or emotional abuse from friends and family.
