John W. Parks IV ’93 receives Distinguished Teacher Award
John W. Parks IV, a 1993 Furman University music alumnus, has received Florida State University’s 2019 Distinguished Teacher Award. Parks is only the third College of Music faculty member to receive FSU’s most prestigious honor for teaching. He joined the FSU faculty in 2003 and was promoted to full professor in 2016. According to an article published in Florida State University News, Parks was instrumental in establishing the nation’s only conservatory-competitive percussion studio that includes recording technology and entrepreneurship as part of applied instruction.
