John Quinn speculates on unusual flamingo habitat
John Quinn, Department of Biology.
A family visiting St. Simons Island, Georgia, encountered an unusual bird sighting – a flock of five flamingos in the nearby marsh. The family reported the sighting to FOX Carolina, and a reporter reached out to Furman University’s John Quinn, the Henry Keith and Ellen Hard Townes Professor of Biology, director of environmental studies and all-around bird expert. He said currents or other weather events could have pushed the birds off course – about 100 miles from their natural habit. The story also ran in NEWSPUB.
