Furman’s Predmore tours solar farm with local TV station
A FOX Carolina photojournalist met with Furman’s Andrew Predmore at the university’s 6-acre solar farm off campus on Poinsett Highway. Predmore, executive director of The Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities, described the farm as “a visual demonstration of Furman’s commitment to sustainability.” Comprising nearly 3,000 panels that produce 750 kW power at peak, the farm also reduces the university’s electricity costs by up to 5 to 6 percent annually, he added.
FOX also delved into its archives for the “lambscaping” project Furman experimented with in 2018 when sheep were deployed to manage the growth of grass and weeds under the panels.
