Furman’s Nelsen stresses the importance of SC in presidential race
In FOX Carolina’s “You Decide” segment, Furman University’s Brent Nelsen, the Jane Fishburne Hipp Professor of Politics and International Affairs, sits down with Anchor Justin Dougherty to discuss the importance of South Carolina in the race for the White House. Nelsen said the Palmetto State represents a “make or break” primary compared to New Hampshire and Iowa primaries. Calling South Carolina a “watershed primary,” he said, “If (candidates) can’t make it out of South Carolina with what we call a ticket, then they’re not going to make it really at Super Tuesday as well. So more and more and more we’re going to see the attention drawing to South Carolina.”
