Furman student from Turkey gives perspective on deadly earthquakes
Deniz Sariaslan ’25, a Furman University student from Turkey, appeared on FOX Carolina to give his perspective on the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that impacted southern Turkey and northwest Syria Feb. 6. Sariaslan reported that his family is okay, but he has friends who have lost loved ones as a result of the temblors, which have so far claimed 33,000 lives. He mentioned there are relief fund efforts underway at Furman, but for time being, people can donate to the Turkish Embassy through local banks.
