Furman mourns the loss of College Football HOF Coach Dick Sheridan

Former Furman University head football coach and member of the College Football Hall of Fame Dick Sheridan passed away July 6 at age 81. Sheridan came to Furman as an assistant football coach in 1973 and was named head coach in 1978. He led the Paladins to a Division 1-AA (now Football Championship Subdivision) title game in 1985. Sheridan coached at North Carolina State University from 1986 to 1993, when he stepped away from the game at age 51, citing health issues. In 2020, he was inducted into the College Football HOF.
