Furman master’s student Sierra Burns guest at SOTU
Furman University master’s student Sierra Burns was a guest at President Trump’s State of the Union Address on Feb. 24. Burns, who is enrolled in the Master of Arts in Advocacy and Social Policy at Furman, was invited by Melania Trump as a representative for the first lady’s Foster Youth to Independence Program. The Greenville, South Carolina, native and Winthrop University graduate, has experienced the foster-care system firsthand. She is working on her master’s at Furman while also serving as a referral specialist at Prisma Health.
