Furman Board of Trustees approves faculty promotions and tenure

Furman University’s Board of Trustees approved promotions and tenure for more than two dozen faculty members during its spring meeting. The recommendations for promotion and tenure are effective Aug. 1, 2026.

The following faculty members were granted tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor:

  • Veronica Flores (Psychology)
  • Lauren Jarocha (Chemistry)
  • Camille Lewis (Communications Studies)
  • Jessica Sauve-Syed (Economics)
  • Mai Nou Xiong-Gum (Communication Studies)

The following faculty members were promoted to the rank of Professor:

  • David Fink (Religion)
  • Erin Wamsley (Psychology)

The following faculty members were granted tenure:

  • Bronwen Forbay (Music)
  • Gary Guillet (Chemistry)

The following faculty members were granted tenure and promoted to the rank of Professor:

  • Francis Kim (Business and Accounting)
  • Geniece Mondé (Sociology)
  • Steven Stewart (Business and Accounting)

The following faculty members were promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer:

  • Matt Dingledine (Music)
  • Craig Price (Music)
  • Claude Stulting (Religion)
  • Izumi Tokunaga (Asian Studies)
  • Ed Yazijian (Religion)

The following faculty member was promoted to the rank of Librarian:

  • Patricia Sasser (Library)

The following faculty members were granted emeritus status, effective upon their retirement:

  • John Barrington (History)
  • Harris Heath (Education)
  • Stephen O’Neill (History)
  • Richard Letteri (Communication Studies)
  • Nicholas Radel (English)
  • Robert Underwood (Business and Accounting)
  • Paul Wagenknecht (Chemistry)
