The Art Thief

Furman University alumnus Brandon Tensley, a 2012 political science and German studies graduate, wrote a review for The Washington Post about Michael Finkel’s “The Art Thief: A True Story of Love, Crime, and a Dangerous Obsession.” In it, Tensley pointed to a series of infamous art heists perpetrated by Stéphane Breitwieser and his partner in crime from 1994 to 2001. Tensley said the book not only illuminates the more than 300 pieces stolen through the years, but also reckons with the question of archiving and ownership of history’s greatest works of art.

Tensley is a national politics reporter for Capital B and a former political writer for CNN. In addition to a bachelor’s from Furman, he holds a master’s from the University of Oxford.
