Facts and Figures for the Furman Class of 2028

Furman officially welcomed the Class of 2028 this morning with Convocation. There are 616 first-year Paladins, chosen from 10,813 applicants, according to the Office of Admissions. We welcomed another 42 students who transferred here.

Here are a few more interesting facts about the Class of 2028.

  • 58% female
  • 42% male
  • 28% racial and ethnic diversity (including international students)

They’re from everywhere.

  • 40 states are represented
  • 26 countries are represented
  • 17% are from the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast
  • 10% are from the West/Midwest
  • 14% are from the Southeast (outside the Carolinas and Georgia)
  • 50% are from Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina

They’re high academic achievers.

  • 3.66 unweighted core GPA
  • 7 class valedictorians
  • 127 in the top 10% of their graduating class
  • 201 National Honor Society members

They’re very well rounded.

  • 143 two-varsity athletes
  • 192 significantly involved in community service
  • 61 founded a club or organization
  • 64 lived outside the U.S.

They’re innovators.

  • 2 podcasters
  • 5 business owners
  • 1 has 4,000 YouTube subscribers
  • 1 authored eight books
