Facts and figures about the Class of 2027

Over the next few years, we’ll have ample opportunity to get to know the newest arrivals on campus. But judging by the facts and figures gathered by the Office of Admissions, we can already tell that the Class of 2027 is an intriguing bunch of humans.

The 627 incoming students (selected from 8,402 applicants) are a diverse group from all around the globe:

  • 57% female
  • 43% male
  • 30% racial and ethnic diversity (including international students)
  • 35 U.S. states represented
  • 58% from the Carolinas and Georgia
  • 47 countries represented

They’re high academic achievers:

  • 3.66 unweighted core GPA
  • 150 National Honor Society members
  • 15 class valedictorians
  • 7 class salutatorians

Their activities, talents and interests include a little bit of everything:

  • 118 sports team captains
  • 24 student body presidents
  • 56 musical group leaders
  • 34 school publication editors
  • 72 theater performers
  • 85 visual artists
  • 15 entrepreneurs and small-business owners

And among the first-year students, you may also meet:

  • A volunteer giraffe expert
  • The first female to play in a North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association football game
  • The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year
  • A beekeeper
