Opening reception for Danni O’Brien’s ‘Rhizomatic/Automatic’

March 13 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

found art exhibit

You are cordially invited to the opening reception of “Rhizomatic/Automatic,” an exhibition by Furman’s 2024 True Inspiration Artist in Residence, Danni O’Brien. The informal gathering on Wednesday, March 13, is an opportunity to casually speak with the artist and explore how their exhibition – which addresses topics such as environmentalism, pollution, capitalist consumption and queer identity – may connect with your courses and other university programming. Light food (cheese, crackers, fruit) and drink (water, beer, and wine) will be available. Stop by the Thompson Art Gallery in the Roe Art Building with any friends, colleagues and students between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. Registration for the free event is appreciated via this link.

The Department of Art’s True Inspiration Artist in Residence program was inaugurated in 2016 as part of The Furman Advantage. The Resident works in an on-campus studio for the Spring semester and develops a body of work in collaboration with Furman’s students and faculty. The program seeks to demonstrate the interdisciplinary capacity of art and creative expression to engage some of the timeliest issues facing our contemporary society.
