Don Gordon, executive director of the Riley Institute at Furman University, has a virtual community conversation with Jane Robelot of WYFF News 4. Gordon says the pandemic has further distanced people from one another and has exacerbated an already tense racial climate following the killings of George Floyd and others. He says the institute’s Diversity Leaders Initiative brings people together and leverages the “great diversity” in our state. It also reveals “blind spots” in our interactions, and exposes barriers to meaningful conversations and civic action.
