Formula shortage: Flores settlement
WYFF News4 turns to Furman University’s Brittany Arsiniega to help explain why there appears to be ample supplies of baby formula at the U.S. southern border while quantities are scarce on grocery store shelves in the U.S., a situation that has fanned criticism of President Biden and his administration’s response to the formula shortage. Arsiniega, an attorney and professor of politics and international affairs, says the U.S. is obligated by law under the Flores settlement of 1997 to provide appropriate foods, including baby formula, to migrant detainees at the border.
