Stevenson ’62 honored for life of genetics work

Furman alumnus Roger Stevenson ’62 was honored April 2 with the  2019 Rimoin Lifetime Achievement Award by the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics–one of the most prestigious awards in the industry. The 78-year-old Dr. Stevenson is co-founder of the Greenwood Genetic Center, a South Carolina facility that placed the state on the map in terms of genetic research and diagnostics.

Adam Benson of the Index-Journal covers Stevenson’s accomplishments, including his discovery of a rare genetic condition in which skull bones fuse prematurely; helping to launch the SC Autism Project; and authoring more than 200 published works.
