Furman University Chief of Staff Liz Seman graces the cover of the January/February issue of Greenville Business Magazine. Seman, who also serves as vice president for Community and Government Relations at Furman, was named an inductee of the Hall of Fame for the publication’s “50 Most Influential.”

As Greenville County Council Chair Pro Tem, it’s clear Seman wears many hats. Through the years she has invested her time and talents in diverse organizations including American Red Cross, Hands On Greenville, and Meals on Wheels. She serves on the executive committees of Upstate South Carolina Alliance and VisitGreenvilleSC and on boards of multiple organizations supporting Upstate communities and the arts.

The Chicago native was first elected to Greenville County Council representing District 24 in 2008 and has since led efforts to livestream all council meetings and introduce electronic voting for roll-call votes. She’s involved in the Roads, Infrastructure, and Public Works Committee, as well as the Communications and Governmental Affairs Committee. She says Greenville County’s strength is its people and its ability to execute strong public-private partnerships.

Greenville Business Magazine includes Hall of Fame members over the years, many with Furman University connections. The “50 Most Influential” for 2025 also includes those with ties to The Riley Institute at Furman.
