Class of 2025 celebrates LDOC
Furman University might be four hours from the coast, but the Class of 2025 brought the beach vibes to campus April 29 as they celebrated LDOC, the last day of class.
Students lounged on towels on Milford Mall and floated in the fountain in front of Joseph Vaughn Plaza during an hours-long party, sans sand. Taking a dip in the fountain is a longtime campus tradition for seniors, and the water was crowded with students lounging on inflatable floats or tossing around balls.
Party tunes flooded the scene, either from a DJ’s set or the live band playing in front of the James B. Duke Library. Nearby, students played a Furman Plinko game and wrote what they were most grateful for as part of the annual Dins Day campaign. Shaved ice offered a sweet treat, while arcade games and bracelet-making activities played to the Furman University Student Activities Board’s Y2K theme for this year, said Lilli Smith ’26, FUSAB president.
“There’s so much excitement with this tradition, especially for the seniors,” Smith said. “There’s live music on the library steps, when else do they get that?”
