Furman included on the Forbes List of Top Colleges

Forbes has again included Furman in its list of “America’s Top Colleges.”

The publication ranked 500 universities who “offer the best educational, financial and career outcomes for all students.” Many of Forbes’s sublists are available to subscribers only. Furman’s overall profile shows the university ranks:

  • 35 among liberal arts universities,
  • 36 among all universities in the South,
  • 84 among all private colleges, and
  • 149 among all universities.

Forbes lists details about Furman based on previous years that warrant updating or clarifying. For example, Furman offers more than 70 majors, minors and programs. The retention rate is 91%, the four-year graduation rate is 82%, with a 98% placement rate in employment or graduate school six months after graduation. The diversity of the student body is around 30% and the acceptance rate this year was 42.96% after a record number of applications (10,813).
