Furman and the Global Sustainability Club, a student-run organization at the university, have committed to help finance a water project that will transform the quality of living for hundreds of residents of the San Lucas community of Guatemala. Furman has been raising money for the project, which included a Water Walk around the university lake on March 29.  Julia Roberts, a Furman sophomore from Boone, N.C., majoring in political science with a minor in poverty studies, wrote about the project in an op-ed for The Greenville News. The piece was written in collaboration with Furman senior Rhodes Hambrick, a biochemistry major from Georgetown, Ky.
