CLP: The WHO Debate: Should the U.S. Depart the World Health Organization?

Students are invited to debate whether the US should depart the World Health Organization (WHO). Furman Economics Department Chair, Dr. Jessica Hennessey, and Furman Health Sciences Professor and Program Director of M.A. in Advocacy and Social Policy, Dr. Shaniece Criss, will frame the pro and con economic and public health arguments, and students will have an opportunity to collect facts, evaluate, and conduct short debates at their individual tables before debriefing as a group. The WHO Debate will challenge students to consider conflicting opinions to promote a more complex understanding of matters and help students practice constructive engagement across differences.
