Daniel Hoilett: Student Spotlight

My name is Daniel Hoilett, my students call me Mr. Hoilett or Mr. H. I have taught second grade for 4 years,  and then I taught 4th grade for 2 years. I teach at Brushy Creek Elementary when I’m in the classroom, but when I’m virtual, I teach in my home.

What made you want to become a teacher?

I actually started out thinking I was going to do something with theater, and wanted to do a little bit of Spanish since I had taken that in high school, but the more I had gotten into (teaching), the more I wanted to keep going. I was working with kids a lot in Highschool and I wanted to make sure that was where my life kept going.

Ever since I took the first classes, it was just something I’ve been interested in. You know you’ve found the right spot when your willing to read about it, you’re willing to write about it, you’re willing to watch it, learn it, and study it.

I just think that this is the perfect blend of both worlds for me.  I get the passion side, just learning and helping people grow, but I also get the enjoyment of just working with kids.  It’s never a dull moment!
