Dear Faculty and Staff,
Yesterday, Governor Henry McMaster announced that South Carolina will advance to Phase 1b of the state’s COVID-19 vaccination plan beginning Monday, March 8.
The definition of Phase 1b includes individuals aged 55 and older, individuals with increased risk for severe COVID-19 disease, and frontline workers such as those employed in education. To determine for yourself whether you qualify as a frontline worker or meet other Phase 1b criteria, refer to SC DHEC’s Guidance for COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation.
There are multiple ways to make an appointment:
- SC DHEC provides a website that offers assistance.
- Publix provides a website for booking appointments at Publix pharmacies.
- CVS provides a website for booking appointments at CVS pharmacies.
- Walgreens provides a website for booking appointments at Walgreens pharmacies.
- Prisma Health offers multiple vaccination sites and provides a website that offers assistance. You may also call 1-833-2PRISMA (1-833-277-4762) for assistance.
Those choosing to be vaccinated by Prisma Health are encouraged to follow the process outlined below:
- Starting March 8, go to your MyChart account to schedule an appointment.
- Employees who do not have a MyChart account can visit https://mychart.prismahealth.org/ and click “Sign Up Online” or call Prisma Health at 1-833-277-4762 to receive assistance. You do not have to be a patient of Prisma Health to create an account.
Upon arrival at any vaccination site, employees may be asked to provide proof of employment.
Human Resources can provide assistance with MyChart access or proof of employment, if needed. With the understanding that the vaccine is currently optional, faculty and staff are not required to utilize Prisma Health and are encouraged to consult their primary care physician to discuss their options.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
