Make the Middle (Mid-term?) Magic

Welcome, October! In this middle month of the semester we encourage you to find ways to “make the middle magic”. Historically “the middle” gets a bad rap. Middle-school, middle-age, even the middle part of a hammock—as relaxing as it might seem—sags low, making escape from repose an almost acrobatic feat. As we move through our now-familiar daily flight patterns and quotidian tasks, what small thing might make this time optimally meaningful for you? In February we talked about “Feedback as the Highest Form of Agape Love” and shared resources for mid-semester feedback from students and the more structured Small Group Instructional Feedback Process. Conducting an internal audit with these SGIF-inspired prompts may illuminate clues about your own mid-course reset to promote wellbeing:
- What’s working for you this semester in all facets of your life?
- What’s not working for you?
- What small adjustment—in commitments, your perspective, your daily access to fulfilling activities—might you make?
If you’d like more clarity around your professional development, request individual confidential coaching or consultation (walking versions available!) with Diane, Magdelyn, or Stephanie. And as the days shorten and brisk temperatures set in, may we all take the time to savor the splendor of our beautiful campus—and maybe even attempt chilling in a hammock!
