Furman Engaged Reflection Contest: Encouraging Meaningful Student Reflection

Furman’s Writing Programs and Writing & Media Lab are once again co-sponsoring a contest designed to promote thoughtful reflection among students participating in Furman Engaged 2025.

Students may participate in this contest in two distinct ways:

  1. Quick Reflect: Students utilize LinkedIn or Instagram to create or respond to posts about their Furman Engaged experience. These entries must be posted by the end of Furman Engaged (April 11). Entries should tag @Furmanuniversity and use #FurmanEngaged.
  2. Deep Reflect: Students develop a more substantial reflection (minimum 150 words) examining how Furman Engaged 2025 has influenced their unique Furman educational journey. Students may either post these reflections on LinkedIn or Instagram (tagging @Furmanuniversity and using both #Furman Engaged and #Reflect) or submit them through a Qualtrics survey. Deep Reflect entries must be submitted by Tuesday, April 29 (LDOC – Last Day of Classes).

As experienced educators, faculty understand the value of structured reflection in solidifying learning experiences and professional development. Please encourage your students, particularly those presenting at or attending Furman Engaged events, to participate in this reflective contest. If you are teaching Pathways 102, the assignment following Furman Engaged is designed to match the Deep Reflect guidelines, so please encourage your students to submit!

Direct them to the official Furman Engaged Reflection Contest webpage for complete details and submission guidelines.
