Tour of Historic Downtown Greenville

October 31, 2019
4:30pm - 5:30pm
Will meet at the west end of Liberty Bridge in Falls Park.

The tour, designed and led by HST 276 students, will begin promptly at 4:30 at the west end of Liberty Bridge in Falls Park.  It will finish about an hour later at the intersection of Washington and North Main.

Why:  We want to help orient new (and also experienced) faculty to some of Greenville’s defining historical moments as well as some of its hidden historical gems.   We will see Furman’s original campus, discuss episodes from the city’s industrial, environmental, and cultural history, its raucous political lpast, and some key landmarks in its history of race and civil rights.  We will point out Greenville’s influence on national and international trends.

How:  Please register here by October 28th.

This opportunity is made possible by Lloyd Benson and Students in HST 276 class.
