Learning by Design Studios: Using a Backchannel in In-Person classes

In our recent switch to remote, hybrid, and online learning, many instructors noticed an increase in student engagement during synchronous virtual sessions through the chat function of virtual conferences systems. Now that we have returned to the in-person context, how might we continue the practice of using a backchannel to facilitate just-in-time engagement? This brief LBD Studio highlights several tools and options for maintaining backchannel communication during in-person learning.
