Furman faculty and academic staff are invited to join the FDC in our Spring 2025 Reading Circle featuring How to Know a Person by New York Times columnist David Brooks.
In this text, Brooks explores the essential skill of seeing others deeply and making them feel valued, drawing from various fields to present an integrated approach to human connection. By offering guidance on how to pay attention, engage in meaningful conversations, and understand others’ stories, Brooks helps readers become more understanding and considerate, ultimately finding joy in being seen and potentially remedying a fragmented society. We will meet for conversation three times, 2-3:15 p.m., in a room to be determined, February 14, February 28, and March 14.
We are excited to share that this event is now fully subscribed and the FDC supply of books is exhausted. If you have your own personal copy of the text, please join us for our conversations! Please register online at the link above [email protected] to be included in meeting invitations and follow-up emails.
