Advising first-generation students requires more than good intentions—it requires awareness of the hidden barriers, assumptions, and institutional norms that shape student experiences. This interactive session explores practical advising strategies that help first-gen students feel seen, supported, and empowered to persist. Through real student perspectives, reflection, and applied advising tools, participants will leave with approaches they can use immediately in advising conversations.
