AI Peruse and Play Reading Group Workshops

November 20, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

September 18, 2025
October 16, 2025
November 20,  2025
3–4:30 p.m.
Duke Library 041

Whether you’re excited by AI, on the fence, a new wave luddite, or anywhere in between, the FDC’s AI Peruse and Play has something for you! We will peruse—that is, read—Ethan Mollick’s 2024 book Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI, and we will play with AI in the spirit of inquiry. Once a month, on the third Thursday of the month at 3 p.m., we will convene. Don’t want to peruse but do want to play, or vice versa? No worries. We’ll peruse from 3 to 3:50, take a quick break, and play until 4:30. You are welcome to attend one or both segments.

Mollick is Co-Director of the Generative AI Labs at the Wharton School and has been on the leading edge of discussions about AI in society, specifically higher education. His “One Useful Thing” Substack focuses on “[t]rying to understand the implications of AI for work, education, and life.” While we will have an aspirational reading schedule, we will be guided by the interests of our community.

Please register online to participate and request a complimentary book, while supplies last.

If you receive a book from the FDC, we ask that you strive to attend all three of our planned Peruse and Plays, but remember, you don’t need a book to come play!

Our reading group will convene on the following dates/times:

  • Thursday, September 18, 3–4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 16, 3–4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 20, 3–4:30 p.m.
