Lillian Brock Flemming, a recent recipient of Furman’s honorary doctorate, will discuss “What Really Matters,” engaging both her personal experiences as one of the first African-American students admitted to Furman in 1967 and as an engaged leader, councilwoman, and educator in the Greenville. The L.D. Johnson Lecture Series honors the life and work of the late L.D. Johnson, who served as chaplain at Furman from February 17, 1967, to December 20, 1981.
