Homecoming is a special time for alumni to return to Greenville and for the campus community to enjoy a variety of activities. There is something truly special about homecoming at Furman University! The connections made at Furman last a lifetime, and homecoming is just one event that showcases that. This gathering is more than just a weekend; it’s a spirit that radiates across campus. It is a week-long joyful celebration in preparation for the arrival of alumni that weekend. It brings together students, faculty, and staff in celebration of tradition and pride.

The Magic of Furman Homecoming

The week leading up to Homecoming is full of immersive events that current students can partake in. Organizations lead float building, chalking, banner making, horseplay, a homecoming carnival, tailgates, and the annual Paladin football game! This is an outlet for organizations to come together to showcase their love for Furman and the alumni.

They pomp decorative floats that show off their spirit and teamwork, where only the best float may win! When Game Day arrives, the stands of Paladin Stadium fill with cheering fans. Throughout the game, there’s a feeling of unity that makes everyone feel like they’re part of the Furman family.

As a Current Paladin

Homecoming can be seen as an event created for alumni of a university, but at Furman, it is just as special while you are a current student. During my freshman year, I was nervous that homecoming would not be as fun for me since I did not know anyone returning to campus. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Throughout the week, there were numerous events to attend that made me feel included and made my week memorable. My favorite moment was attending the carnival. I was able to enjoy a Furman pep rally, go on rides, view the floats, and mingle with alumni. As a sophomore, I now look forward to all the homecoming events and seeing all of my alumni friends return to campus!

Once a Paladin, Always a Paladin

Beyond the week’s events and celebrations, Furman’s homecoming stands out for the strong sense of belonging it inspires. The weekend overflows with nostalgia and laughter, reminding every Paladin—past, present, or future—that Furman is truly a home away from home. The university fosters a lifelong community that endures beyond graduation, and homecoming reminds alumni why they chose Furman as their forever home.
