Our deepest sympathies for the loss of Stasi Hester

January 28, 2025

Dear Furman University Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the tragic news of the passing of Stasi Hester, a senior politics and international affairs major and data analytics minor from Simpsonville. She was found in her North Village apartment Monday night.

Stasi was more than a major or a student, and more than someone who worked at the front desk of the library. She was a beloved member of our Furman family, a very intelligent and caring person with a bright future who was deserving of love and acceptance. Our thoughts are with Stasi’s family, friends, and all those who knew her.

Losing a member of our community is never easy, and we understand the pain that many of you may be feeling right now. Please know that we care deeply about each of you and are here to support you through this tragedy. We encourage anyone who may need assistance to reach out for help.

For anyone in need of support, staff are available at these numbers:

  • Trone Center for Mental Fitness (counseling services) and after-hours crisis line: 864-294-3031, press #3 (confidential, available 24/7)

Please take care of yourselves and one another.

With deepest sympathy,

Elizabeth Davis
