Clearly Furman campaign news
October 28, 2024
Dear Furman Community,
I am excited to share with you that Clearly Furman, the Campaign for Our Third Century is on track to reach its original goal of $426 million well ahead of its planned finish in 2026. With this in mind, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to raise our goal to $476 million.
It’s a great testament to the dedication and generosity of alumni, parents and friends that we were set to reach an already ambitious goal more than a year and half early and are now able to reach even higher. I am grateful for everyone’s generous support of and confidence in our faculty and staff and our mission to graduate students who go on to have meaningful and successful lives and a positive impact in their communities.
Furman will focus the remainder of the campaign on raising money for scholarships as we work toward meeting full financial need for all students. Meeting student financial need and boosting fundraising, including completing and exceeding the goal for the Clearly Furman campaign, are key initiatives in Furman’s strategic plan, FUture Focused.
I also wanted to share that Heidi Hansen McCrory, who has served as Furman’s vice president for Development since 2018, will retire Nov. 1.
Heidi wove herself into the fabric of the Furman community as someone who cares and wants the very best for the university, creating a culture of philanthropy that will long endure. She has been an outstanding partner and will be truly missed for her fundraising leadership, her sense of humor and her endless optimism.
Shon Herrick, associate vice president for Development, will serve as the interim vice president for the remainder of the campaign. We will conduct a national search during the last year of the campaign with the goal of announcing a new vice president following its conclusion.
Please see our story for more details.
Thank you again for all you do to support Furman and our students.
Warmly,
Elizabeth
