My Furman Advantage Experiences:
Internships - I volunteered as a medical assistant at the Sacred Heart Community Clinic in my hometown. This is an organization that provides free/reduced healthcare services to those without medical insurance. I took patients' vital signs, drew blood, ran lab tests, and helped with other administrative roles in the clinic. This summer, I will be interning with the Tiny Feet program here in Greenville. I will be working with Early Childhood Intervention specialists to provide a treatment plan for families who have a child who has not met their developmental milestones.
Study Away - Religion & Art - we traveled to Italy and Switzerland to look at how religion (mostly Christianity) influenced art and architecture in the cities we visited.
Research - Chemistry research with Dr. Daub over the summer looking to accomplish a greener synthesis of a antifungal functional group found in common antifungal medications.
