International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. IEW stems from a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State with the goals of expanding cultural competencies and worldviews, connecting U.S. communities with programs that develop global skills and knowledge, and celebrate the breadth of cultures.

9:00 AM: Globally-Inspired Coffee and Chai Bar (Trone Student Center Atrium). Hosted by FUISA, SDC, CIC and the Intergroup Dialogue Program. Coffee service, provided by Synergy Coffee, is available for the first 100 people.

Wednesday, November 20th, 2024

1:30 – 2:30 PM: Freeman Fellowship Student Q&A Panel (Due Library Room 203/Pitt Conference Room) Hear from previous Freeman Fellows about their Freeman Fellowship experience from the application process to living and interning in an Eastern/Southeastern Asian country.

7:00 – 8:30 PM: Afro Night Out (Burgiss Theatre) The Afrikiya organization’s signature event is geared toward sharing the African culture with the Furman community. This event consists of various performances, from dance to music and poems, and it highlights the African population at Furman. All international identities are encouraged to join this event to help elevate the shared culture we portray.
