Stanford J. Jennings graduated from Furman in 1984 with a B.A. in political science. He is the Southeast Central Regional Sales Manager for New Balance Athletics, Inc. Following his Furman graduation, Stanford played nine years in the National Football League: with the Cincinnati Bengals from 1984-1990; with the New Orleans Saints in 1991, and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1992. After participation in the NFL Player Internship Program in 1992, Stanford joined Reebok International, Ltd. In Cincinnati, Ohio, as a sales representative, and was soon promoted to the sales management team. In 2000, he took a position with New Balance Athletic Shoe as a Southeast Regional Sales Manager in Atlanta, then left to operate his own business, Stanford Jennings, LLC, a sales agency representing New Balance. He rejoined New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. as a member of the corporate sales management team in 2003.

A standout football player while at Furman, Stanford was named to the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990. He was also named to the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006 and was inducted into The Class of 2022 South Carolina Football Hall of Fame. Stanford established the Stanford Jennings Football Scholarship soon after his graduation from Furman. He also served five terms on Furman's Board of Trustees between 2002 - 2017.

Stanford and his wife, Kathy, have two children, Kelsey '11 and Stanford, Jr. (Jamie). They reside in Milton, Georgia.
