I graduated from West Virginia University with a Masters in Professional Accountancy. Prior to coming to Furman, I worked at Ernst & Young for 9 years, leaving the firm as a Senior Manager. I then worked for Advantica Restaurant Group for 8 years and was Assistant Controller when I left to come to Furman in 1998. My areas of interest include financial reporting, ethics in a business setting and the science of teaching and learning.

Philosophy

As a teacher, I strive to create an atmosphere that promotes learning in a challenging and supportive environment. My passion for teaching is matched only by my passion for my discipline, which I practiced for 17 years prior to obtaining a full-time teaching position at Furman. For those students pursuing an accounting degree, my goal is for them to not only learn to think and perform like professionals, but to also learn to do so in a responsible and ethical way.
