My 2023 Furman Engaged Experience was a wonderful part of my semester this year because not only was it my first time giving a presentation in the event, but I also witnessed and participated with questions in two other sessions in departments I have a lot of interest in. For the French Department, I introduced my final video project to the audience; it was a video about what I learned in the FRN 325 Architecture in Context course while abroad in Rennes, France last fall, and it was 100% in French. I have lots of anxiety about public speaking, but after having to present in French last semester, doing it in English seemed much more manageable, and I didn’t even have speaker notes. My confidence has grown a lot. I then went to the Roe Art Building to see the Senior Final Project Presentations, and I was fascinated by the variety in their personal work as well as inspired by their deep and meaningful artwork. The Furman Echo panel in the last session was also inspiring and encouraged me to submit better work next year.
