Phil received his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech University in 2006. He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2009. Phil has also achieved advanced credentials as a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Before coming to Furman in 2013, he was a member of the sports medicine team at McLeod Sports Medicine for 5 years, as well as a clinical fitness specialist with McLeod Health & Fitness in Florence, SC. He possesses extensive experience in the biomechanical analysis of functional movement and running. Areas of clinical interests are the treatment of orthopedic injuries, spinal dysfunction, sport injury rehabilitation and the evaluation and fabrication for custom orthotics. Phil’s background and experience are in the evaluation and design of highly effective treatment plans addressing the challenges of returning high level endurance athletes to competition. Phil also holds certification in vestibular therapy. He serves as the Clinical Education Coordinator for our affiliation education programs.
