Nancy Georgiev joined Furman University in August 2012 where she currently serves as the Director for Study Away and International Education. Nancy found a natural pathway to a career in international education through her love of learning foreign languages and exploring cultures (German, Bulgarian and Russian). Nancy holds a BM in Music and German from DePauw University and a MA in International Education with a focus on Intercultural Development from the SIT Graduate Institute. She says her passion is promoting “greater intercultural understanding, community collaboration, and positive relationships between students and the rest of the world.”

In addition to running study abroad programs in a university setting for nearly two decades, Nancy has lived abroad for 6 years immersing herself in foreign languages and cultures. Her first international job was in Vienna, Austria at a study abroad institute. She was a Peace Corps volunteer from 2007-2009 in Kyustendil, Bulgaria, and then worked as a high school administrator of an English language high school in Sofia, Bulgaria until 2011.
